The “Friends of Lakehurst Park,” a group of Lakehurst residents who have been working with Foothills Parks and Rec., will have a meeting at the playground on Surrey on Saturday, May 22nd at 1:00 p.m. If you live along the park, including along the“diamonds,” or if you regularly walk through the park or use its amenities, we strongly encourage you to attend this meeting.Bring a chair and your kids, we will provide drinks and snacks.

To be discussed at the meeting: what do you want to see happen with the park? Some of the things Foothills has proposed include planting a low water-use turf, which would appear “dead” during most of the year; and tearing up the sidewalks that fringe the park and replacing them with sidewalks that run through the center of the park. The HOA Board does not believe that those changes are in the best interest of the neighborhood. What do you think?

• To inform the community about the current status of the park improvements, about the easements in the park, and events taking place in the park this summer.
• To get community members to sign up to the Friends ofLakehurst Park’s newsletter and become engaged in the ParkEvents and Park improvement project.
• We are looking for people to volunteer to help out with events and to host gatherings to help grow and support our community and park. These include: Park Clean-Up’s, Movie’sin the park, and Yard Game events.
